Sandtray Play Work is a program specifically for educators, teachers & school counsellors who work with children in early childhood, kindergarten, primary & secondary and high school. This method uses an indoor sand tray and sandtray miniatures for story telling to develop the child's interaction with underlying feelings. A new way of communicating, telling story, learning and social interaction are at the heart of Sandtray Play Work.
In level 2 we look at how Sandtray is able to work with the whole brain, allowing for the right and the left connection to talk to each other in a Polarity of Balance.
Sandtray engages pre-verbal mental activities by relaxing the left brain, so that the right brain image forming mind has the opportunity to open and express.
At level 1 learners will have had some experience of Sandtray Therapy either as a sand player or as a beginner therapist. The knowledge in this course is essential to know for any beginner and is a good review for practicing practitioners.
In this course we will explore the overall framework of Sandtray Therapy as a stand alone method of therapy. The learner will be able to understand what Sandtray Therapy is NOT, and what Sandtray Therapy IS.
It is important to understand that with this method a rigorous training needs to be completed in order to proficiently set up a Sandtray Therapy practice. A training background in mental health, psychology or social sciences would be a requirement for any therapist using this method in a clinical setting.
At Opengate Institute we advocate for Sandtray therapy as a stand alone method, these modules are not meant to be understood under any other framework other than as a Sandtray Therapist.
